Soccer is the most popular sport globally, with over 250 million people participating annually. Soccer analytics and performance indicators are a vital part of this sport, as they help coaches understand their player’s peak performance points and identify weaknesses to improve on. Next11 is developing a product that can improve these factors through data-driven insights, and 2021.AI assists with the AI part of the solutions.
A data-centric approach to performance
Staying at the peak of your game by performing at the highest level is crucial to survival for both professional soccer players and teams, and data can prove pivotal in helping players remain on top. The ability to track speed, agility, and accuracy can aid players and teams in targeting areas for improvement, giving them the edge over their competition and setting them apart from the crowd. Furthermore, an industry-tailored, data-centric approach to player performance enables the soccer industry to provide players with safer training conditions that can help prevent potential injuries.
Live stats from the soccer pitch
Using a series of tags on the soccer pitch to track information live, Next11 is able to provide up-to-the-minute information on how players are performing, providing not only valuable post-match feedback but also live stats for those on the sidelines. “AI doesn’t have to be limited to office environments. It can offer valuable insights in any context, be that in the boardroom or on the soccer pitch,” commented Kim Tosti from 2021.AI.
2021.AI has been part of the development of Next11’s product by delivering a solution for how the data from tags on the field is best processed and aggregated to ensure valuable insights into player performance. Once the data has been collected, the information is then processed through a high-performance algorithm, developed on the Grace AI platform and optimized, tested, and deployed on Next11’s edge device – a piece of equipment that serves to transmit the data from the tags on the pitch into insightful player statistics in an app.
“Our collaboration with 2021.AI has played a central part in delivering a seamless connected experience for coaches and players in the realm of professional soccer,” said Mathias Poulsen, Partner and Head of Product at Next11. “We deploy AI and data to help us innovate in everything we do, and 2021.AI’s team of explorers have solved amazing tracking opportunities using AI.”
