Plesner is one of the first law firms in Denmark to take a significant step toward responsible and value-creating use of generative AI. With the GRACE platform from 2021.AI, Plesner has created a secure and responsible framework for employees’ use of AI across the organization. At the same time, all employees—from lawyers to business support—have been trained in the safe and effective use of AI to optimize workflows and enhance the quality of daily work.
“We wanted to take the driver’s seat when it comes to AI—with compliance as our top priority,” says Claus Egholm Nielsen, CIO at Plesner. “The GRACE platform gives us full control over all governance-related challenges and allows us to experiment within controlled sandboxes.”
When generative AI began to gain momentum in 2022, Plesner quickly established an internal AI task force with representatives from legal, IT, innovation, and leadership. The ambition was clear: to understand and harness the potential of the new technology—responsibly.
The architecture of the GRACE platform supports a model-agnostic approach, allowing multiple language models (LLMs) to be used for specific purposes. This enables Plesner to tailor AI solutions to particular needs and switch between models without being locked into a single provider—a flexibility that ensures robustness and future readiness in a field with high demands for both security and precision.
Plesner placed strong focus on both data security and employee skills during the rollout. Initially, many employees expressed concerns about data sharing and potential misuse. However, with GRACE’s intuitive and user-friendly interface and secure governance framework, the solution was quickly accepted and widely adopted.
“Flexibility has been absolutely essential—especially in a world where everything changes quickly,” says Jonas A. Hother Carlsen, Senior IT Project Manager at Plesner. “It’s been fantastic to witness how employees who were once hesitant now confidently use AI in their daily work.”
Bjørn Olesen, Sales Director at 2021.AI, adds: “Our collaboration with Plesner has been exemplary. Plesner’s ambitions for security and responsibility align perfectly with 2021.AI’s focus and dedication. We’ve been positively challenged by Plesner’s high and detailed requirements for security and governance, which has further strengthened our GRACE platform.”
With GRACE, Plesner has established a secure and scalable platform that combines governance, compliance, and value-creating AI use. A foundation that supports Plesner’s ambitions for technological leadership—and ensures responsible AI use, now and in the future.
