Industry leaders and researchers discussed trustworthy AI adoption and AI Governance methodologies at the 2022 GPAI Summit.
On November 21, 2022, Mikael Munck — founder and CEO of 2021.AI — spoke at a session hosted by Fujitsu Ltd. at the third annual summit of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) in Tokyo, Japan.
GPAI promotes the international adoption of Trustworthy AI through dialogue between industries, governments, and academia. This year, the 2022 GPAI Summit provided a global forum for AI leaders to share cutting-edge insights on AI-related priorities.
With a growing number of new AI regulations and codes of conduct from regional, national, and international governments, organizations worldwide have struggled to adapt and comply. Adhering to these new and different AI frameworks poses a significant challenge for companies looking to implement AI.
At the Fujitsu-hosted session, titled “The Ways to Trustworthy AI in Practice,” speakers discussed solutions to this challenge through the standardization of AI Governance measures. By expressing their own visions and approaches, the speakers explored how standardized Governance methodologies can promote Trustworthy AI, meet global stakeholder needs, and ensure compliance with different regulatory frameworks.
During his presentation, Mikael Munck shared his experiences of developing a flexible AI Governance platform (namely 2021.AI’s GRACE AI Platform) to meet regulatory and ethical requirements for AI. GRACE is a complete Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) platform for AI and related data, enabling any organization to develop, implement, and use Trustworthy AI.

The 2022 GPAI Summit was held in Tokyo, Japan, on 21-22 November 2022. The event brought together engaged minds and expertise from science, industry, civil society, governments, international organizations and academia to foster international cooperation on AI-related priorities. The summit offered an opportunity for GPAI Working Groups to showcase the recent developments of their work around four themes: Responsible AI, Data Governance, Future of Work and Innovation, and Commercialization.
Fujitsu chaired a GPAI side event titled “The Ways to Trustworthy AI in Practice” on 21 November at 2:30 PM (JST). In this session, researchers and practitioners working on practical and technical methodologies, techniques, and tools for AI Governance gave presentations and participated in discussions to share their views on the potential for joint-exploration of outcomes, delivery challenges, and expectations, taking into consideration the perspectives of government bodies as well as industries.
